Your data
MoviPick needs very little about you, and never sells or shares any of it for advertising.
The short version
- No ads, no ad trackers, no analytics, and we never sell your data.
- An account is optional. Without one, we keep nothing about you; a TV app only gets a random device ID.
- With one: your Google name, email and photo, plus your TV’s country and languages.
- Want it gone? Delete your account yourself on the account page, at once.
What we keep
- Your account (if you sign in with Google): name, email address and profile photo.
- Your TVs: for each linked TV a random device ID, its platform (webOS or Android TV), when it was linked, and the country and languages it reports.
- TV app requests: the make and model you send us when you ask for an app we don’t make yet.
- Every TV app, signed in or not: a random device ID with its platform, model and app version, so the app can talk to MoviPick. It isn’t tied to you unless you link the TV to an account.
- The launch list (if you join it): your email address, the language of your browser, when you joined and confirmed, and whether you asked about the TV apps. Nothing else, and only for the one email you asked for.
- Not us: your list and the titles you hide stay on your TV.
What you type into Ask
Your request goes to OpenAI so Finderella can understand it and write the suggestions, and short search phrases made from it go to Reddit and web search. Answers are kept for a day so the same question is answered quickly, under a scrambled key that is not tied to you.
On your device
Your browser or TV remembers your theme, sound setting, country and languages, and, when you’re signed in, a small cookie with your name for the header. No advertising or analytics cookies, so there’s no cookie banner. To stop abuse we count requests per network address for a few minutes; those counters expire on their own. To know which posts and ads bring people here, each visit adds one to a daily total for where it came from (the link’s campaign tag, or the site that sent you), and to whether that visit searched or joined the launch list. Those are totals per day: no cookie, no identifier, nothing that tells visitors apart.
Who helps us run it
Google Cloud and Firebase (hosting, sign-in, database), Cloudflare (domain and network), OpenAI (Ask), Upstash (request limits), Brevo (launch-list emails), Brave and Tavily (web search for Ask) and Reddit (public threads). TMDB, OMDb and JustWatch provide titles, artwork and where to watch; they receive nothing about you. About credits them all.
YouTube
Trailers play in YouTube’s own player, and “Creators recommend” and Genre Hunt are built with YouTube API Services: we read public YouTube Shorts in which creators recommend films, and Google Gemini watches them to list the titles. None of this involves your YouTube account or anything about you. When a trailer plays, YouTube’s own privacy policy applies: Google Privacy Policy. The YouTube Terms of Service apply to YouTube content.
How long we keep it
Account and TV data until you delete your account. The launch list until you leave it (every email has a link) or until we’ve sent the email you asked for. Cached answers for a day, request counters for minutes. What we learn from public YouTube videos is refreshed or removed within 30 days.
Your rights
Delete your account on your account page: it takes effect at once, removes everything above and unlinks your TVs (they keep working without an account). You can also unlink a single TV there. To see, correct or export your data, or if you can’t sign in any more, email hello@movipick.page from your account’s address and we’ll do it within a month. If you’re unhappy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Age
Signing in is for people aged 16 and over. Anyone younger can use MoviPick without an account.
